OUR STORY

Hi! I’m Kate, the founder of
A Bit Better Press.

I've always loved to paint, but never really knew where to start. It turned out that my son Emerson felt the same way! When I first sat him down with a blank piece of paper to create a homemade thank you card for his grandma, I assumed he’d have no trouble coming up with something creative to paint. Instead, he threw a splotch of red paint on the card before jumping up to go play, and I ended up having to finish the card myself.

The next time I tried, I printed out a sheet of paper with bubble letters that said “THANK YOU” to see if he would color them in like a coloring book. It made all the difference! He loved coloring each letter a different color, and we were able to finish the card together - with a lot less help from me.

That's why I started A Bit Better Press; to take the guesswork out of art and provide a way for adults and kids alike to express their creativity in a way that is both simple and useful! I intentionally created each set to have a variety of styles so adults and kids can each find cards that ignites their imagination. Through art projects with a purpose, our cards help create moments of connection, creativity, and thoughtfulness.

Our name is inspired by the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote,

"To laugh often and much...
to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world
a bit better,  whether by a healthy child, a garden patch,
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived.
This is to have succeeded."
